Earlier this year, one failed and two were damaged by someone no longer working for me. We have Microsoft Complete on lots of Surfaces, which has always worked out well, but also had a few SP5s that had Geeksquad protection. With Geeksquad replacements, they do reserve the right to ship defective devices out, but in my experience they usually just replace with stock or, if no longer in stock, hand you a gift card for the original purchase price. The total tech damage coverage is also well worth it since it is currently covering my Apple Watch Series 7, Surface Pro 8, Surface Duo 2, and $4000 with Nikon camera and lens.Īs for extended warranties, you can still purchase Microsoft Complete from Microsoft or go the Best Buy route at additional no cost (total tech) or the going rate for a Geeksquad warranty. The only thing you get with buying directly from Microsoft is a longer exchange/return window, and even that is only true at Best Buy if you are not a total tech member or have elite status.
